A certificate ceremony was held today at the Town Hall in Leicester for those trained and qualified as Restorative Justice Practitioners for the Restorative Justice Initiative Midlands. A warm welcome was made by Dr Denis Tanfa. Assistant Mayor Vi Dempster, of Leicester City Council, handed the certificates to the trained mediators. She is in full support of Restorative Justice and is keen to see it develop within the city and beyond. PC Sandie Hastings, the Restorative Justice Coordinator for Leicestershire Constabulary and an internationally acclaimed RJ Practitioner, also attended the certificate presentation. She is also very supportive of the project and has encouraged the use of Restorative Justice at the community level.
